2nd Annual 5 Goal Iron Man Roller Hockey Tournament 2012

A group of  30 hockey players crashed the net for wishes at the 2nd Annual 5-Goal Iron Man Adult Roller Hockey Tournament on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Southmont Courts in Southmont Borough, Pa. The event raised an amazing $4,600.  The event was organized by wish dad Jim Shaffer.  

Many thanks to event sponsors Coast to Coast Cellular of Johnstown, PA, and Windber Medical Center Helping Hands of Windber, PA. Bob and Mike, owners of Shorty's Italian Smokehouse and a team sponsor of the event, had a car cruise and donated $260 to Make-A-Wish.  They are pictured with wish kid Dylan. Wish kid Joey joined in the hockey fun! Joey's wish was to go to Walt Disney World® in 2011. Wish kid Dylan, son of the event organizer, and Joey get ready for the big tournament.  Dylan went to Walt Disney World® in 2005. Many thanks to the Tenuta family for attending!

Volunteers Paul and Sandy, as well as Nana Theresa Rager and Fran Sivi, the executive director of Westmont Hilltop Recreation Commission, joined Joey at the tournament. It's a great day for hockey for Team FX Screen Printing (Gaghan, Homan, Adams, Strushesky and Carl) Team Ron's Tire Sales (Gironda, Kolestar, Shaffer, Hunt and Terek) are looking for victory!

Congrats to the champs -- Team Cernics! Organizer Jim Shaffer and his son, wish kid Dylan, stopped by the Pittsburgh Make-A-Wish office to donate the $4,600 in proceeds.   They presented the donation to Make-A-Wish Manager of Special Events Stephanie Pugliese.
