Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia

McKnight Madness

McKnight Elementary School and wish mom Natalie Abel organized a parent vs. teacher basketball game called McKnight Madness at North Allegheny Intermediate School's gym to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The fund raising goal was $10,000. The parents won this year's parent vs. teacher McKnight Madness basketball game. Frank Scolieri, Vince Abel and other McKnight Elementary School students enjoy the game. The parents and teachers face off in this Make-A-Wish fundraiser. Besides the parent vs. teacher basketball game, the McKnight Madness event also featured a foul shot shoot out, raffles and lots of food. Many wish kids attended the event.
Wish kid Zach Abel, second from left, joins his friends at the McKnight Madness event. Zach was granted his wish for a dinosaur in his backyard in 2005. The wish was the 7,000th wish for the Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia Make-A-Wish chapter. Wish kid Bethany and her mother Leslie (left) enjoy the game with Make-A-Wish Development Coordinator Elizabeth Bach. McKnight Elementary School students and wish kids have fun during the foul shot shoot out contest. McKnight Madness participants were entered into a drawing to win a football autographed by Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver and 2005 Super Bowl MVP Heinz Ward. Make-A-Wish mascot Stella! joined in the fun. Make-A-Wish volunteer Judi Pavlecic, wish kid Bethany and Make-A-Wish Development Coordinator Elizabeth Bach take time to pose for a picture.
McKnight Elementary School PFA members Mary Mann, Valerie Cook and Heather Schwartzbauer helped to coordinate the event. Make-A-Wish Development Coordinator Elizabeth Bach, Event Organizer and Wish Mom Natalie Abel and Wish Kid Bethany announce the winners of raffle prizes, including the football autographed by Heinz Ward. Wish kid Zach and his brother Vincent meet and greet Make-A-Wish mascot, Stella!
